1. A bone fixation system, comprising:
a bone anchor having a long axis, the bone anchor comprising:
a threaded head comprising:
a proximal end having a circular cross-section orthogonal to the long axis of the bone anchor, and
a thread root that tapers outwardly at an angle of between 10 degrees and 25 degrees with respect to the long axis; and
a threaded body extending from the thread root of the threaded head; and a plate, comprising:
an aperture extending through the plate along a long axis of the aperture, the aperture comprising:
a first plate opening:
a second plate opening;
a sidewall extending into the aperture from the first plate opening; and
a projection that projects inwardly from the sidewall towards the long axis of the aperture, the projection comprising:
a first surface extending from the sidewall of the aperture between the first and second plate openings of the aperture, the first surface being coplanar with a first plane that intersects the long axis at a first angle of between 85 degrees and 95 degrees,
a second surface disposed between the first surface of the projection and the second opening of ti de plate, and
an inner wall, extending parallel to the long axis of the aperture and defining a projection thickness, coupling the first surface of the projection to the second surface of the projection,
wherein, for all non-zero angles of up to 50 degrees between the long axis of the bone anchor and the long axis of the aperture, threads of the threaded head of the bone anchor are configured to engage in an interface fit with the projection, having the projection thickness, so as not to critically deform the projection, thereby, locking the bone anchor within the aperture of the plate.
