1. A method for passing a tension member, the method comprising:
choosing a volumetric region internal to an organ containing a target tissue mass;
forming a curved passage around the volumetric region between an entry point and an exit point provided both at opposing sides of the volumetric region along a surface of the organ;
advancing a tension member passer through the curved passage via the entry point, such that a pulling portion of the tension member passer emerges from the organ via the exit point;
drawing the tension member into and through the curved passage by pulling the tension member passer with the tension member; and
tightening the tension member to cause compression of the volumetric region, thereby directly increasing a pressure within the target tissue mass;
wherein the tissue mass comprises at least a portion of a tumor.
