1. A vehicle surface, comprising:
a first transparent layer;
a second transparent layer;
a transparent light-carrying layer, the transparent light-carrying layer positioned between the first transparent layer and the second transparent layer; and
an absorbing portion operably associated with the transparent light-carrying layer, the absorbing portion adapted to absorb light rays that enter an edge of the transparent light-carrying layer such that the absorbed light rays are not internally reflected within the transparent light-carrying layer.
