1. A recombinant nucleic acid molecule comprising a heterologous promoter operably linked to a polynucleotide segment encoding an insect inhibitory protein, wherein said insect inhibitory protein comprises an amino acid sequence having at least 80% amino acid sequence identity to SEQ ID NO:14, and wherein the insect inhibitory protein comprises sequences corresponding to motifs M0, M1, M2, M3, M4, and M5.
