1. A mixed-porosity microfluidic chip, comprising:
a microfluidic chip comprising a microchannel etched in a substrate;
microporous structures comprising calcium carbonate spheres sintered in the microchannel;
macropores between at least some of the microporous structures, wherein the average width of the macropores is at least about ten times larger than the average diameter of the calcium carbonate spheres.
