1. An article of footwear comprising:
an upper;
a sole fixedly coupled to the upper, the sole comprising:
a base having an outer edge;
outer projections extending from the base at the outer edge, each outer projection having a sidewall; and
inner projections extending from the base, the inner projections disposed inwardly of the outer projections,
wherein at a forefoot portion of the sole the outer projections and the inner projections are arranged in arcuate rows extending from a medial side to a lateral side of the base, and wherein a row at the forefoot portion of the sole comprises at least four projections of the inner and outer projections;
wherein the base and the sidewalls of the outer projections form a continuous surface up to the outer edge, the continuous surface forming a sidewall of the sole,
wherein the outer projections and inner projections define spaces in the sole, the spaces extending from the base to a bottom surface of the outer projections and the inner projections,
wherein an area of the spaces is at least 30% of a total area of a bottom surface of the base within a perimeter of the base, and
wherein at least one of the outer and inner projections has a ratio of a height of the projection to a width of the projection greater than 1.
