1. An apparatus of a user equipment (UE) configured for operation in a fifth-generation new radio (SG NR) system (5GS), the apparatus comprising: processing circuitry; and memory,
wherein the processing circuitry is configured to:
decode radio-resource control (RRC) signalling received from a generation node B (gNB), the RRC signalling comprising channel access mode information to configure the UE for semi-static channel occupancy in shared spectrum;
decode a downlink control information (DCI) from the gNB that schedules an uplink (UL) transmission, the DCI to further indicate whether the scheduled UL transmission is associated with one of a UE-initiated channel occupancy and a gNB-initiated channel occupancy; and
determine, from on the DCI, whether the scheduled UL transmission is associated with one of the UE-initiated channel occupancy and the gNB-initiated channel occupancy,
wherein for the UE-initiated channel occupancy, to acquire a channel occupancy time (COT), the processing circuitry is to:
configure the UE for transmission of an uplink (UL) transmission burst at a beginning of a first period immediately after sensing the channel to be idle for a slot duration;
configure the UE to end the UL transmission burst before a start of an idle duration for the first period; and
configure the UE to refrain from transmitting within the idle duration of the first period,
wherein when the UE is configured for the semi-static channel occupancy, the UE is configured with semi-static channel access configuration parameters that include a second period for periodic channel occupancy and an offset for the periodic channel occupancy, the offset being a number of one or more symbols from a beginning of a frame to a start of the first period in the frame in which the UE can initiate a channel occupancy, and
wherein when the scheduled UL transmission is determined to be associated with the gNB-initiated channel occupancy, the processing circuitry is to determine whether to transmit the UL transmission without sensing or after sensing the channel, and wherein the memory is configured to store the DCI.
