1. A carbon foam fabrication method, comprising:
pulverizing feedstock into a powder having a particle size less than about 0.40 mm;
compressing the powder into pellets;
generating subcritical or supercritical conditions for an environment of CO2 or N2;
placing the pellets in the subcritical or supercritical conditions;
heating the pellets at a constant heat rate until the environment of CO2 or N2 reaches a maximum temperature;
pyrolyzing the pellets to form carbon foam; and
collecting a bio-oil co-product.
