1. A secondary battery electrode plate comprising a metal core body and an active material layer on both opposite major surfaces of the core body, said both opposite major surfaces being each enclosed by a perimeter of the core body, wherein
the electrode plate comprises:
a first perimetric edge defined by a first part of the perimeter of the core body extending in a first direction perpendicular to a thickness direction of the core body,
a first end surface connecting the opposite major surfaces of the core body and adjacent to the first perimetric edge, and
a tab being a part of the core body and protruding from the first perimetric edge in a second direction different than the first direction and perpendicular to the thickness direction of the core body,
the tab comprises:
a second perimetric edge defined by a second part of the perimeter of the core body extending in the second direction, and
a second end surface connecting the opposite major surfaces of the core body and adjacent to the second perimetric edge, and
a coating containing silicon is formed on the first end surface of the electrode plate and the second end surface of the tab, wherein said coating on the second end surface extends across an entire length of the second perimetric edge of the tab in the second direction.
