1. A device comprising:
a memory configured to store; and
one or more processors configured to:
obtain link data corresponding to a communication link to a second device, the link data including a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) that is received from the second device, of the communication link;
generate a link budget based on the link data including the RSSI;
select, at least partially based on the link budget, between an ambisonics mode and a stereo mode; and
responsive to the ambisonics mode being selected:
determine spatial priority data by applying a spatial priority operation on ambisonics data;
generate spatio-temporal priority data by performing a spatio-temporal augmentation operation on the spatial priority data;
determine encoding properties based on the spatio-temporal priority data, wherein the encoding properties identify compression effects to be applied to encoded audio data; and
generate the encoded audio data based on the encoding properties.
