1. A gaming system comprising:
a client device having a display; and
a server coupled to the client device, the server comprising at least one processor and at least one memory storing a plurality of instructions which, when executed, cause the at least one processor to at least:
transmit data to the client device indicative of a first plurality of symbols selected for display at the client device from a symbol set based on one or more random numbers generated by a random number generator,
when the first plurality of symbols selected include a plurality of configurable symbols, receive one or more player selections selected from among a plurality of non-configurable symbols displayed from the client device,
transmit data to the client device indicative of a plurality of multiplier indicia for display at the one or more player selections,
transmit data to the client device indicative of a second plurality of symbols for display at the client device unoccupied by the plurality of configurable symbols based on the random number while retaining the plurality of configurable symbols, and
transmit data to the client device indicative of an award for display accumulated from a plurality of values assigned to the plurality of configurable symbols displayed on the client device and the plurality of configurable symbols displayed with the multiplier indicia thereon.
