1. A meniscus projection plane setting apparatus comprising
at least one processor configured to:
acquire a three-dimensional image of a knee joint;
set a plane that approximates a joint surface of the knee joint as a projection plane for generating a projection image by projecting a meniscus at the knee joint included in the three-dimensional image; and
exclude, from among pixel positions on the joint surface, a pixel position whose distance from the projection plane is greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold and set a new projection plane.
