1. A computing device comprising a processor and, coupled to the processor, a storage device, a communication subsystem, an input device and an output device, the storage device storing instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the computing device to:
(a) present one or more graphical user interfaces (GUIs) to identify recent spending habits determined from first spending information, the first spending information determined from a first monitoring of one or more financial accounts to track recent spending, the one or more GUIs comprising at least one GUI control to encourage or reinforce a savings behavior to save for a future unbudgeted spending opportunity, the future unbudgeted spending opportunity linked with one of the recent spending habits determined from the review of spending information, and the at least one control defined to present a recommendation for the future unbudgeted spending opportunity;
(b) receive and present information responsive to second spending information determined from a second monitoring of one or more financial accounts, the recommendation for initiating a saving to a saving event account associated with an event identified from event-related information, the event information originating from communication information of the user other than from financial accounts;
(c) in response to second spending information comprising an initial expense saving, display a create account control to receive input to create the saving event account;
(d) create the saving event account at a remote device associated with the event to perform a first savings transaction, and, thereafter, from time to time, to perform subsequent respective savings transactions to transfer funds to the saving event account, the subsequent respective savings transactions authorized in response to respective push notifications; and
(e) in a locked state of the computing device;
receive and present one of the respective push notifications in a notification user interface having a first savings control to initiate performance by the remote device of one of the subsequent respective savings transactions; and
responsive to input via the notification user interface, unlock the computing device and load into an operating memory only a messaging portion of an application without loading a remainder of the application to communicate a message to the remote device to initiate the performance of the one of the subsequent respective savings transactions;
wherein user event-related information comprises one or more of calendar information, contact information, email, or short message service (SMS).
