1. A method performed by a single processing device comprising a device case, one or more processors within the device case, and a locking mechanism coupled to the device case, the locking mechanism including a mechanical locking mechanism and an electromechanical locking mechanism, the mechanical locking mechanism to be toggled between a locked position and an unlocked position using a physical key inserted in a key receptacle accessible through the device case, the method comprising:
detecting, by an authentication module implemented at least partly in program code executed by at least one of the one or more processors, an authentication signal from a fingerprint scanner, a face scanner, or an iris scanner;
authenticating the authentication signal using a stored user profile of a user, wherein the stored user profile is used by the user to log in the single processing device and includes at least user data associated with the user; and
upon the authentication signal being authenticated, activating the electromechanical locking mechanism of the single processing device to release a latch switch of the single processing device to allow the mechanical locking mechanism to be toggled from the locked position to the unlocked position.
