1. A method comprising:
configuring a first mode of progress tracking state stored as one or more progress tracking records for a recovery point (RP) replication of a first RP from a first source site to a target site via an application programming interface (API) at the target site;
performing the RP replication, wherein each progress tracking record is stored at the target site during the RP replication according to one or more API calls from the first source site as data is acknowledged as transferred;
querying the target site via the API to obtain the first mode of progress tracking state to identify ranges of data unacknowledged as transferred to the target site during the RP replication; and
re-replicating the identified ranges of data from the first source site to the target site.
