1. A method, comprising:
managing volume management information indicative of a relationship between an application and a volume used by the application;
for receipt of a first request to make the application ready for takeover to another location, updating the volume management information to indicate that another volume of the another location is associated with the application;
for receipt of a second request to conduct volume attachment for the application:
identifying one or more volumes associated with the application based on the volume management information;
attaching an identified volume from the identified one or more volumes to the application; and
for a parameter the application indicated in the second request indicative of disabling use of existing volumes, creating a new volume for the application for the volume attachment indicated in the second request instead of attaching the identified volume from the identified one or more volumes to the application.
