1. A method of presenting a visualization of a target imaging region on a display of a plenoptic endoscope, the method comprising:
receiving, at an image sensor of the plenoptic endoscope, light from a target imaging region;
computing, based on an output of the image sensor, a photographic image of a portion of the target imaging region;
computing, based on the output of the image sensor, a depth map associated with the portion of the target imaging region;
generating a three-dimensional (3D) surface representation of the portion of the target imaging region based on the computed depth map; and
presenting the visualization of the target imaging region on the display, the visualization of the target imaging region comprising the photographic image of the portion of the target imaging region with the 3D surface representation projected on the photographic image of the portion of the target imaging region.
