1. A method for contactless operation of an aircraft lavatory door, comprising;
receiving user presence input from an exterior mm Wave sensor;
querying whether a user is proximate the exterior mm Wave sensor;
processing range, position, and/or velocity in response to the user being proximate;
receiving a gesture input from an exterior gesture sensor;
determining whether the gesture input is a known gesture;
indicating on a human-machine-interface (HMI), in response to the gesture input not being the known gesture that the gesture is not recognized and waiting until the user performs the known gesture;
actuating, in response to the gesture input being the known gesture, a latch actuator operatively connected to a latch mechanism to drive the latch mechanism between a latched and an unlatched position to latch and unlatch the aircraft lavatory door based on the input from the exterior gesture sensor and the exterior mm Wave sensor; and
actuating, in response to the gesture input being the known gesture, a door actuator to move the aircraft lavatory door between an open and a closed position.
