1. A composition, comprising: a particle or solid surface comprising or coated with a metal oxide wherein said metal oxide is selected from the group consisting of CuTi, AlTi, CaTi, CoTi, Fe₂Ti, Fe₃Ti, MgTi, MnTi, NiTi, SnTi, and ZnTi; and a biological sample wherein said biological sample comprises DNA and/or RNA.
