1. An aqueous coating composition comprising
(a) at least one anionically stabilized binder BM,
(b) at least one effect pigment EP,
(c) at least one polycarboxylic acid PC or salt thereof having the general formula (I)
K+−OOC—(CH2)X—COO−K+
in which
x stands for integers from 1 to 30, and K+ is hydrogen or a cation, and
(d) at least one solvent L.
