1. A process for the functionalization of a rubber polymer, comprising reacting the rubber polymer with at least one source of nitrene or carbene, in the presence of a catalyst of formula Tp^xAg, wherein Tp^xrepresents a hydrotris(pyrazolyl)borate ligand.
