1. A method of treating an ocular disease or disorder treatable by restoring light sensitivity to retinal neurons, the method comprising administering to a subject a therapeutically effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising a nucleic acid encoding a polypeptide comprising the amino acid sequence of any one of SEQ ID NOs: 3-10, wherein the nucleic acid is operably linked to a promoter and the polypeptide is expressed in a cell membrane of a retinal neuron of the subject following administration.
