1. A neurofeedback system comprising:
a memory device configured to store an EEG signal generated by one or more electrodes placed on an exterior of a head of a user to measure an activity of a brain of the user; and
one or more processors in communication with the memory device, the one or more processors being configured to:
filter the EEG signal to generate a first filtered signal corresponding to a first type of brain wave;
play to the user a first audio recording corresponding to the first type of brain wave;
determine a first volume threshold from the first filtered signal;
set a volume level at which the first audio recording is played to a first level according at least to a comparison of the first volume threshold and a first value, the first value being determined from the first filtered signal and indicative of the activity of the brain at a first time;
determine a second volume threshold from the first filtered signal, the second volume threshold being different from the first volume threshold; and
set the volume level at which the first audio recording is played to a second level according at least to a comparison of the second volume threshold and a second value, the second value being determined from the first filtered signal and indicative of the activity of the brain at a second time different from the first time.
