1. An expandable balloon coupled to a distal end of a shaft for insertion into an organ of a patient, the expandable balloon comprising:
an expandable membrane;
one or more electrodes disposed over an external surface of the membrane, the one or more electrodes lying on an equator of the balloon when the balloon is free of constraints, the equator defining a plane perpendicular to a direction of the balloon, the direction defined by a distal end and proximal end of the balloon; and
one or more respective conductive coils, each conductive coil wound several turns around an entirety of a perimeter of a respective electrode.
