1. A surface cleaning apparatus comprising:
an electrically powered suction source comprising a vacuum motor;
a recovery tank fluidly coupled to the suction source;
an electrically powered pump;
a supply tank fluidly coupled to the pump;
a usage sensor configured to generate usage data during a cycle of operation of the surface cleaning apparatus, the usage sensor comprising at least one of:
a vacuum motor sensor circuit configured to generate usage data indicative of an operating time of the vacuum motor; and
a pump motor sensor circuit configured to generate usage data related to the operating time of the pump;
a controller configured to process the usage data generated by the usage sensor and to transmit at least one control signal based on the usage data generated by the usage sensor, the at least one control signal comprising one of:
a notification signal to provide a user notification that preventative maintenance is required; and
a power control signal to turn off the supply of power to at least one of the vacuum motor and the pump; and
a connectivity component configured to wirelessly transmit the usage data to a remote computing device;
wherein the remote computing device is configured to identify, based on the transmitted usage data, at least one of:
a duration of operation of the vacuum motor;
a date on which the vacuum motor is operated;
a time of day at which the vacuum motor is operated;
a duration of operation of the pump;
a date on which the pump is operated;
a time of day at which the pump is operated;
a duty cycle of the pump; and
an amount of cleaning formula used during operation of the pump.
