1. A protective headgear comprising:
an external head-protecting shell to at least partially cover a wearer's head;
a first cheekbone extension member extending from the shell to at least partially cover a first cheekbone area of the wearer's head, the first cheekbone extension member having an inwardly-facing surface, and a cantilevered end;
a second cheekbone extension member extending from the shell to at least partially cover a second cheekbone area of the wearer's head, the second cheekbone extension member having a cantilevered end;
a space between the cantilevered end of the second cheekbone extension member and the cantilevered end of the first cheekbone extension member;
a first cheekbone fit pad that is removeably attachable to the first cheekbone extension member such that the first cheekbone fit pad covers at least a portion of the inwardly-facing surface of the first cheekbone extension member;
a second cheekbone fit pad that is interchangeable with the first cheekbone fit pad such that the second cheekbone fit pad is removeably attachable to the inwardly-facing surface of the first cheekbone extension member after the first cheekbone fit pad has been removed from the first cheekbone extension member; and
a stiff interface extending in a direction along a front portion of the external head-protecting shell, wherein the stiff interface extends between the first and second cheekbone extension members to connect the first and second cheekbone extension members, wherein the stiff interface is integral with at least one of the first and second cheekbone extension members, and
wherein the second cheekbone fit pad has a different thickness than the first cheekbone fit pad.
