1. A compound represented by the following formula (1):

rings X1 to X4 are independently a substituted or unsubstituted benzene ring, or a substituted or unsubstituted 6-membered aromatic heterocyclic ring having one or two nitrogen atoms;
X1a to X1d are atoms constituting the ring X1, X2a to X2d are atoms constituting the ring X2, X3a to X3c are atoms constituting the ring X3, and X4a to X4c are atoms constituting the ring X4;
at least two of the rings X1 to X4 are independently fused with one or more rings selected from the group consisting of
a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon ring including 5 to 50 ring carbon atoms, and
a substituted or unsubstituted heterocyclic ring including 5 to 50 ring atoms;
X1a to X1d, X2a to X2d, X3a to X3c, and X4a to X4c which are not involved in the fusion of the rings are independently
CH,
C(Ra), or
N;
Ra is a substituent;
when a plurality of Ra's are present, the plurality of Ra's may be the same as or different from each other;
adjacent two or more Ra's form a substituted or unsubstituted, saturated or unsaturated ring by bonding with each other, or do not form the ring;
Ra1 and Ra2 are independently
a hydrogen atom, or
a substituent Ra; and
when both of Ra1 and Ra2 are the substituents Ra's, the two Ra's of Ra1 and Ra2 are the same as or different from each other,
wherein the substituent Ra is selected from the group consisting of
a halogen atom, a cyano group, a nitro group,
a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group including 1 to 50 carbon atoms,
a substituted or unsubstituted alkenyl group including 2 to 50 carbon atoms,
a substituted or unsubstituted alkynyl group including 2 to 50 carbon atoms,
a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group including 3 to 50 ring carbon atoms,
—Si(R901)(R902)(R903),
—O—(R904),
—S—(R905),
—N(R906)(R907),
a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group including 6 to 50 ring carbon atoms, and
a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent heterocyclic group including 5 to 50 ring atoms;
R901 to R907 are independently
a hydrogen atom,
a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group including 1 to 50 carbon atoms,
a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl group including 3 to 50 ring carbon atoms,
a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group including 6 to 50 ring carbon atoms, or
a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent heterocyclic group including 5 to 50 ring atoms; and
when two or more of each of R901 to R907 are present, the two or more of each of R901 to R907 are the same or different.
