1. An apparatus comprising:
at least one processor; and
at least one memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to at least perform:
receiving, with a radio resource control inactive context hosting entity implemented by the apparatus from a radio access node, a push user equipment context notification for a user equipment in a radio resource control inactive state or a fetch user equipment context request for the user equipment in the radio resource control inactive state, wherein the radio resource control inactive context hosting entity stores contexts and corresponding identifiers of one or more user equipment that are in the radio resource control inactive state;
in response to:
the receiving of the push user equipment context notification, sending to the radio access node an acknowledgment or a negative-acknowledgment; or
the receiving of the fetch user equipment context request, retrieving information requested; and
in response to:
the sending of the acknowledgment, storing information contained in the notification; or
the retrieving, sending to the radio access node the retrieved information; and
in response to the acknowledgement, receiving a message providing a radio resource control connection suspend and a resume identity radio network temporary identifier,
wherein the message comprises at least one of an identity of the radio access node or an identity of the push user equipment for a transition back from a radio resource control inactive to a radio resource control connected state.
