1. A method for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE), comprising:
receiving, via a first carrier associated with a first radio access technology, at least a first uplink grant from a network entity; and
transmitting, using resources indicated by at least the first uplink grant, an uplink transmission based at least in part on a temperature of one or more components of the UE satisfying a threshold, the uplink transmission including a buffer status report having a value of zero, one or more data bytes, and one or more padding bytes different from the one or more data bytes, wherein the one or more data bytes include one or more bytes of application data from a buffer at the UE, the buffer includes a different quantity of data than indicated in the buffer status report.
