1. An illumination control system comprising:
a light source configured to illuminate a subject with a first amount of light;
an iris camera configured to photograph an iris image including a portion of an iris of the subject, on which basis the subject is authenticated;
one or more processors; and
a memory storing program code executable by the one or more processors to control light emitted from the light source, wherein
the one or more processors determine whether or not the subject has passed through a focusing point based on a brightness of the iris image photographed when the subject is illuminated with the first amount of the light, and control, when having determined that the subject has passed through the focusing point, the light source to illuminate the subject with a second amount of the light smaller than the first amount of the light.
