1. A method for video coding, comprising:
detecting one or more particle samples from a residual of a video block being coded;
filtering out the one or more particle samples from the residual of the video block to form a first residual;
coding the first residual, wherein the first residual is transformed, quantized, and entropy coded;
obtaining a second residual representing the one or more particle samples; and
coding the second residual, wherein the second residual is quantized and is entropy coded.
