1. A method, in a network node, comprising:
determining to trigger a beam reconfiguration for a user equipment (UE);
selecting a set of candidate beams for measurement by the UE;
activating mobility reference signal (MRS) transmission in the candidate beams, in response to determining to trigger the beam reconfiguration and determining that intra-cell candidate beams are insufficient for the beam reconfiguration;
receiving, from the UE, measurement results for the candidate beams; and
selecting a target beam for the beam reconfiguration, based on the measurement results.
