1. A method for managing alarm notifications at a user device, the method comprising:
receiving, from a patient monitoring computing device, an alarm notification regarding an alarm at a patient device;
in response to receiving the alarm notification, transmitting, to the patient monitoring computing device, a first indication that the alarm notification was received by the user device, wherein the first indication provides information to the patient monitoring computing device usable to determine to not accelerate escalation of the alarm;
in response to determining that the indication of the alarm notification was viewed by a user at the user device but that the user has not yet responded to the indication of the alarm notification, transmitting, to the patient monitoring computing device, a second indication that the alarm notification was viewed by the user but that the user has not yet responded to the indication of the alarm notification, wherein the second indication provides information to the patient monitoring computing device usable to determine to not accelerate escalation of the alarm; and
in response to receiving an input that the user has declined handling the alarm, transmitting, to the patient monitoring computing device, a third indication that the user has declined handling the alarm, wherein the third indication provides information to the patient monitoring computing device usable to determine to enable escalation of the alarm.
