1. An access-control mechanism that controls access through a passage barrier, the access-control mechanism comprising:
a wireless transceiver;
memory configured to store identification information for devices authorized to pass through the passage barrier;
logic circuitry configured to:
receive, via the wireless transceiver, authentication information from a first device attempting to pass through the passage barrier;
authenticate the first device so that the first device can pass through the passage barrier;
receive from the first device via the wireless transceiver, a list of other devices and identification information for the other devices, wherein the other devices are not in wireless communication with the wireless transceiver;
access the memory to determine if the other devices have permission to pass through the passage barrier; and
allow users of the other devices to pass through the passage barrier based on the identification information being indicative of the other devices being allowed to enter.
