1. An electrophoretic system for analyte migration, the system comprising:
a first substrate, wherein the first substrate comprises an array of selectively actuated regions, and wherein one or more of the selectively actuated conductive regions are selectable to provide a first conductive surface area;
a second substrate comprising a second conductive surface area that comprises capture probes, the second conductive surface area being different in size from the first conductive surface area; and
a buffer chamber configured to contain a buffer between the first substrate and the second substrate; and
wherein the system is configured to generate an electric field between the first substrate and the second substrate such that one or more analytes migrate from a biological sample positioned between the first substrate and the second substrate to the capture probes of the second substrate.
