1. A method for manufacturing a solid matrix tube heat exchanger assembly comprising:
providing a plurality of solid matrix modules formed from a thermally conductive material and having opposed first and second planar faces, each solid matrix module including a plurality of spaced-apart tubes arranged in an identical pattern and extending between the first and second faces in an axial direction;
positioning the solid matrix modules such that adjacent solid matrix modules are spaced apart from one another such that ends of corresponding ones of the tubes in all of the solid matrix modules are axially aligned with each other; and
inserting a nipple into the corresponding ones of the tubes in adjacent ones of the solid matrix modules such that the nipple is inserted a distance sufficient for creating a bond into each of the corresponding ones of the tubes;
expanding each nipple into fluid tight contact with inner walls of the corresponding ones of the tubes at locations along their lengths that lie within the solid matrix modules.
