               1. A display container comprising: 
            a) an enclosure including a container body and a lid detachably mounted to the container body to define a generally enclosed interior of the enclosure for storing a botanical specimen, the lid having a transparent viewing section extending over the interior for viewing of the botanical specimen from above; and 
                b) a lighting system integrated with the enclosure and including at least one light source in the enclosure for illumination of the botanical specimen, and a control system coupled to the at least one light source for controlling operation of the at least one light source, wherein the at least one light source is mounted adjacent an upper end of the interior for illuminating the botanical specimen from above.

               14. A display container comprising: 
            a) an enclosure having a generally enclosed interior for storing a botanical sample, and at least one transparent viewing section for viewing the botanical sample through the enclosure; and 
                b) an integrated lighting system including at least one light source in the enclosure for illumination of the botanical specimen, and a control system coupled to the at least one light source for controlling operation of the at least one light source, wherein the at least one light source is at an elevation above the botanical specimen when in the interior for illuminating the botanical specimen from above.

               18. A display container comprising: 
            a) an enclosure having a container body and a lid detachably mounted to the container body to generally enclose an interior of the enclosure for storing a botanical specimen viewable through at least one transparent viewing section of the enclosure, the lid defining an upper end of the enclosure; and 
                b) a lighting system integrated with the enclosure and including at least one light source within the enclosure for illumination of the botanical specimen, and a control system coupled to the at least one light source for controlling operation of the at least one light source.
