1. A liquid discharge device comprising:
a discharge section that discharges a liquid;
a storage section including a first surface and a second surface spaced apart from the first surface in a first direction, and configured to store the liquid between the first surface and the second surface;
a transmission electrode provided at the first surface;
a reception electrode provided at the second surface;
a drive circuit that drives the transmission electrode; and
a detection circuit that receives a reception signal from the reception electrode, wherein
the detection circuit includes
a peak detection circuit that detects a peak value of the reception signal,
a discharge switch provided at an output of the peak detection circuit, and
a detection signal output circuit that outputs a detection signal for detecting a residual quantity of the liquid stored in the storage section based on the output of the peak detection circuit, and
the discharge switch is switched from on to off before a detection operation of the detection circuit.
