1. A method for treatment or amelioration of infection with K. pneumoniae, comprising administering to an individual in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a monoclonal antibody, which specifically binds to a polypeptide consisting of
a) an amino acid sequence SEQ ID NO: 25, or
b) an amino acid sequence, which is a fragment of SEQ ID NO: 25 consisting of residues 35-790 or residues 450-790 or residues 35-450,
wherein, the monoclonal antibody is obtained by immunizing an animal with a protein comprising SEQ ID NO:25 or residues 35-790 or residues 450-790 of SEQ ID NO:25, isolating B-cells that bind SEQ ID NO: 25 or residues 35-790 or residues 450-790 of SEQ ID NO:25 from the animal, and using said B-cells in the production of the monoclonal antibody, which in useful in conferring passive immunity against K. pneumoniae in the individual.
