1. An aqueous composition comprising a plurality of polymer nanoparticles, the polymer nanoparticles comprising,
a polymer comprising repeating units of formula (I)

wherein
X is independently at each occurrence —O—, —S—, —CH2—, —(CR4R5)—, or

OG Complex Work Unit Chemistry
 wherein R4 and R5 are independently at each occurrence a C1-6 alkyl group and R6 and R7 are independently at each occurrence hydrogen or a C1-6 alkyl group;
L1 is independently at each occurrence a divalent group that is (—CH2—)z, wherein z is an integer from 8 to 18; and
R1 is independently at each occurrence an ammonium group, a phosphonium group, a zwitterionic group, a carboxylate group, a sulfonate group, an alkylene oxide group, or a combination thereof.
