A method of treating a neurodegenerative disease comprising administering a pharmaceutical composition consisting of a pharmaceutically effective amount of one and only one isolated diterpene selected from the group consisting of Formulas 1 to 10, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, optionally with conventional therapeutic agents for treating neurodegenerative diseases to a subject in need thereof, wherein the composition excludes an extract of Daphne genkwa:
