1. A method of using a goniotomy surgical instrument to treat the trabecular meshwork of the eye, the method comprising the steps of:
obtaining a goniotomy surgical instrument, said instrument having
a hand grip with an elongated configuration, a proximal end and a distal end, and
a tip connected to said distal end of said hand grip, said tip having a cutting means for creating a trabecular leaflet at Schwalbe's line in an eye;
gripping said hand grip to bring said cutting means into contact with the trabecular meshwork of an eye directly below Schwalbe's line; and
cutting a leaflet of the trabecular meshwork with said cutting means.
