1. A cushioning element for an article of footwear, the cushioning element comprising:
a bladder including a first barrier layer and a second barrier layer joined together along a seam to define a chamber, the seam including a peripheral seam extending around an outer periphery of the bladder and having a variable width along the outer periphery of the bladder to define a plurality of tabs; and
a support element disposed within the chamber and including a first distal end secured in a first one of the plurality of tabs.
