1. A wireless access point (WAP) within a wireless network, the WAP comprising:
a physical layer (PHY) device configured to receive wireless networking traffic information from a plurality of communication devices; and
a processor configured to:
analyze a plurality of locations of the plurality of communication devices within the wireless network to determine an effective coverage area of the WAP,
determine the WAP is servicing a small coverage area when the effective coverage area is less than a coverage area threshold,
determine, in response to the WAP servicing the small coverage area, whether to restrict a first operational parameter from among a plurality of operational parameters from being utilized by the PHY device to communicate wireless network information based upon whether the wireless network is experiencing congestion, and
determine, in response to the WAP not servicing the small coverage area, not to restrict the first operational parameter from being utilized by the PHY device to communicate the wireless network information regardless of whether the wireless network is experiencing the congestion.
