1. A computer-implemented method comprising:
storing, by a payment device, a biometric identifier of a user in a memory of the payment device, the biometric identifier being associated with a transaction account;
receiving, by an antenna of the payment device, a near field communication (NFC) interrogation signal from a point of sale (POS) device in order to activate the payment device for a payment transaction;
determining, by a biometric sensor of the payment device, a scanned fingerprint identifier of the user in response to the NFC interrogation signal activating the payment device;
authenticating, by the payment device, the scanned fingerprint identifier by matching the fingerprint identifier to the biometric identifier; and
transmitting, by the antenna of the payment device, the transaction account to the POS device for processing the payment transaction based at least in part on the authentication of the scanned fingerprint identifier.
