1. A computer-implemented method for using vehicle telematics data to determine a usage-based vehicle maintenance cost, the method being implemented by one or more processors and/or associated transceivers, the method comprising:
generating a vehicle maintenance and charging model, the vehicle maintenance and charging model defining standard operation of a plurality of vehicles based upon a combination of industry vehicle maintenance data with reference telematics data captured from a plurality of reference vehicles, and (ii) standard charging characteristics of the plurality of vehicles based upon the reference telematics data and historical charging data from a plurality of charging stations, the standard operation and charging characteristics including a threshold or range for a plurality of factors including acceleration, braking, cornering, mileage, and vehicle positional data relative to a maintenance schedule and charging frequency, duration, and location relative to a charging schedule;
receiving, by the one or more processors, from a user computing device of a user associated with a subject vehicle, first vehicle telematics data associated with operation of the subject vehicle, the first vehicle telematics data captured over a period of time after the user acquired the subject vehicle and including sensor data from a user-defined subset of device sensors associated with the subject vehicle, wherein the subject vehicle has associated therewith a periodic maintenance cost with an initial value predetermined at a time when the user acquired the subject vehicle;
using the first vehicle telematics data as input, executing the vehicle maintenance and charging model to compare the first vehicle telematics data to the threshold values or ranges for the plurality of factors;
receiving, by the one or more processors as output from the vehicle maintenance and charging model, a plurality of quantitative scores corresponding to the plurality of factors, the plurality of quantitative scores indicating the user's operation of the subject vehicle is better than standard operation of like vehicles and the user's vehicle is likely to require reduced or delayed maintenance and (ii) will put reduced burden on charging infrastructure compared to the like vehicles over a future period of time;
automatically adjusting, by the one or more processors, the periodic maintenance cost to have an adjusted value less than the initial value by an amount proportional to the reduced burden on the charging infrastructure, based upon the plurality of quantitative scores output from the vehicle maintenance and charging model; and
transmitting, by the one or more processors and/or associated transceivers, an itemized report to the user associated with the subject vehicle, the itemized report including a representation of how the operation of the subject vehicle is better than standard operation of the like vehicles based upon the plurality of qualitative scores, an identification of the adjusted value of the periodic maintenance cost, a representation of the decrease from the initial value of the periodic maintenance cost and the adjusted value of the periodic maintenance cost, and one or more other vehicle costs.
