1. A baseboard management controller (BMC) device, comprising:
a communication interface; and
a processor coupled to the communication interface and configured to:
receive, via the communication interface, an indication to perform a recovery operation with respect to a main circuit board with which the BMC device is associated; and
use a copy of a firmware associated with the main circuit board, the copy being locally stored by the processor of the BMC device in a memory independently of a main processor comprising the main circuit board, to perform the recovery operation,
wherein the communication interface is connected, via the main circuit board, directly to an external connector comprising the main circuit board.
