1. An Augmented Reality (AR) optical waveguide comprising:
a transparent substrate including a user proximate surface and a user distal surface; and
a slant etched diffractive grating included on the user distal surface of the transparent substrate, wherein the slant etched diffractive grating includes a refractive index of greater than or equal to 2.0 and has a thickness of less than 200 nanometers (nm), and wherein the slant etched diffractive grating includes zinc peroxide (ZnO2).
