1. A lead device, comprising:
at least one processor; and
a memory operatively coupled to the at least one processor, the at least one processor configured to:
determine that the lead device is leaving or entering a predefined area;
determine that at least one mobile sensory device of a predefined set of devices within a tethered segment associated with the lead device is inside the predefined area of the lead device, wherein the at least one mobile sensory device is configured to communicate with the lead device; and
in response to a determination that the at least one mobile sensory device is inside the predefined area, cause the lead device to switch between performing a first type of tracking operations and a second type of tracking operations based on whether the lead device is entering or leaving the predefined area.
