1. A radar system unit for a radar system, the radar system unit comprising:
a cooling manifold coupled to a mount;
at least one radio frequency (RF) beamformer coupled to the mount and configured to generate one or more RF beams;
multiple RF transmit and receive assemblies coupled to the cooling manifold, each RF transmit and receive assembly comprising at least one radiating element configured to emit electromagnetic radiation;
for each RF transmit and receive assembly:
a digital receiver and exciter (DREX) coupled to the mount and configured to convert RF from the RF transmit and receive assembly to digital in receive mode and to convert digital to RF for the RF transmit and receive assembly in transmit mode;
a first processor coupled to the mount and configured to control power of the electromagnetic radiation of the at least one radiating element for the RF transmit and receive assembly; and
a second processor coupled to the mount and configured to control the RF transmit and receive assembly, a power unit, and the DREX; and
a midplane coupled to a) the mount, b) the first processor for each of the RF transmit and receive assemblies, c) the second processor for each of the RF transmit and receive assemblies, and d) the predefined number of RF transmit and receive assemblies.
